Purchasing a Work

All purchases are placed through the Royce app in Apple’s iOS App store. To download the app, click here.

You must be a member to view, purchase and sell works on Royce. Credit card is an accepted payment method when purchasing artworks up to $100,000, with no added fee. Wire transfers are available on all purchases and required when purchasing artworks above $100,000.

Privacy

Given the sensitive nature of the artworks for sale on our app, Royce is a completely private platform only accessible to approved individuals and institutions. Buyers and sellers maintain complete anonymity
through every sale on Royce, and all records are removed after a work sells, making Royce the
safest way to privately buy and sell fine art.

Delivery

Royce partners with the world’s best shipping providers to facilitate seamless and fully insured delivery from the seller’s location directly to you, wherever you are in the world. Our logistics team is comprised of dedicated experts who arrange all the details around your shipment following purchase.

Below are the different delivery methods you may see once a quote is available. All include a full insurance policy.

White Glove
Delivered by appointment to the room of your choice. Includes item collection, packing, shipping, full insurance and in-home delivery (unpacking, inspection, minor assembly, removal of packaging materials). Signature required at delivery.

Front Door
Delivered to your front door or equivalent per any special instructions (porch, landing area, garage, etc.). Includes item collection, packing, and shipping. Does not include unpacking, inspection, assembly or installation. Crates are often used to provide maximum protection during transit. Please make sure the item will fit through any doorways, hallways, stairwells or elevators. Signature required at delivery.

Standard and Express Courier
Certain artworks may be eligible for delivery by a parcel delivery service such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL.
Includes full insurance. Electronic tracking available. Signature required at delivery.

Depending on the delivery service used, it will typically take 7-14 business days from payment for orders to be delivered to a buyer located in the U.S. International order delivery times vary due to customs, but typically take 10-21 business days. Import duties are not included, and buyers are responsible for them upon arrival.

Please note that handling, which includes picking up and preparing an item for shipment and packaging, may take up to 5–10 business days. This is not included in the noted delivery estimates, but is accounted for in estimates on any purchase details page and text updates. Certain deliveries can be expedited upon request for an extra cost.

Whichever delivery option you choose, Royce keeps you up to date every step of the way through status updates in the app and text messages.

Fee Structure

Royce is proud to offer the most favorable and transparent fee structure in the art world. We do not charge a Buyer’s Premium – the prices our members see in the app represent the total cost of the artwork and no additional charges. Listing a work for sale is free and private. After a work is purchased, the Seller’s Fee is deducted from the listed price. Royce has a simple tiered Seller’s Fee structure. We work out the amount as follows (in USD):
10% up to 100,000
7.5% between 100,000 and 1,000,000
5% over 1,000,000

These industry-low fees minimize the difference between the purchase price by the buyer and the total amount the seller receives, helping us achieve our goal of providing Royce members access to the world’s best priced artworks. Our sellers enjoy consigning with minimal risk and selling for the highest profit possible.

Security

Due to the sensitive nature of private art deals, Royce keeps all information about its members,
sellers, buyers, and listed artworks completely private. Royce is structured as an exclusive members
only community – a group of people around the world who share the same passion for collecting art.
Though we help connect collectors to more conveniently transact fine art amongst one another, we
respect every member’s privacy to the fullest. Buyers and sellers are kept anonymous for each sale.
Members are unable to screenshot any contents within the app, further protecting the privacy of
each listed work. In order to keep all buyers’ payment information completely safe and confidential,
Royce uses Stripe’s and Plaid’s encrypted services to securely manage and store all credit card and
bank account information.

Authenticity

Our goal is to be the most trusted marketplace for fine art. We do this by only accepting sellers with
the best reputation and by thoroughly verifying all artworks to ensure their authenticity.

Our specialists inspect everything from certificates to condition, and so much more. It’s our hope that through these efforts, we can help create a trustworthy and safe community for buying and selling fine art.

Security

Our team works hard to protect every member’s information. That’s why we use a variety of security tools to keep their information safe at all times.

Multiple authentication checks
When you sign in for the first time or with a device we don’t recognize, we’ll ask you for a temporary identification code, which we’ll send you by text message. Once you give us the identification code, we’ll sign you securely into your account. This multistep process helps us protect your account and lets us recognize your devices the next time you sign in.

Encryption technology
We use 128-bit encryption technology to protect your phone numbers, passwords, and other personal account information used in our app.

Stripe Payments
Royce uses Stripe as our payment processor for credit card transactions. Stripe encrypts all card numbers at rest with AES-256. Decryption keys are stored on separate machines. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and doesn’t share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services (API, website, etc.).
